Mommy & Daddy's Little Girl

Our precious gift we hold so dear,

We're so sorry for your every tear.

We cannot explain all the how's, where's, and whys,

Only that someday we all must learn to fly.

We, my love, have learned late,

And in our life made many mistakes.

We are sure that you will make a few,

And in due time you shall learn the truth.

That life can slip right through your hands,

Just as the wind blows the desert sands.

We can only imagine the pain you feel,

And pray that our kisses your hurt will heal.

That in time you'll dry the tears you hide,

And realize that in us you may confide.

You will always be our little girl,

And one day bless us with your own little girls,

With golden hair and tiny curls.

You have flown in and out of your home,

Unable to stop your urge to roam.

Yet as the hummingbird in which we delight,

You always bring pleasure to our sight.

Yes it is hard to love one that is not there,

But the reunion is always grand to share.

And so my love, we hope you can see,

That love and forgiveness is always the key.

And with these keys a treasure you'll find,

The fact that you are one of a kind,

A gift from above, truly divine.

Often we cannot explain the how's, where's, and whys,

And because of this God teaches us to fly.

So never despair,

Keep the peace of the dove,

For you are our darling child,

And our little girl we will always love.
